Downtown across the railroad tracks...

This is a quick sketch I did on location, not more than 10 minutes, then added color and finished it in my studio.

New England Seascape

This sketch was from a photo a friend of mine took when visiting the New England seaside. I first did a pen and ink drawing then washed in color. Because I really liked the photo I took time with the drawing, usually my ink work is fast and more stylized and my use of color can be lose and more impressionistic.

Beach time in Galveston

It’s been a very long time since I posted to my blog, however I’ve been painting, sketching, teaching and conducting workshops. I’m planning to get back to blogging again and post my new art work and sketching. This quick sketch was done last week on the beach in Galveston Texas where we spent a few days getting away from it all so to speak.

My small sketching kit...

Here's my sketching kit. Aquabee 9in.x6in. 93lb. Sketchbook, small Windsor & Newton palette, 3 brushes #12, #6 and a small one I hardly use and a plastic handled brush that has a reservoir to hold water. (Brushes cut down to fit in the bag.)  Uniball and Faber-Castell waterproof pens. Mechanical pencil, kneaded eraser, a few clips and a tube of white paint. A small bottle to hold water, a plastic water bottle cut down for a water bowl,  a sponge and a bit of paper towel.

Sunday Morning Coffee

Sunday morning coffee and a little sketchbook time. This is my simple little kit that fits into a small bag. I'll show it all in my next post.

Practice quick sketch

Haven't posted in a long time this is a quick practice sketch I did as a warm up. I really like doing these they're loose and spontaneous.
